A young cat's destiny is put in the paws of StarClan. When StarClan makes a life-threatening decision, the clans are left to question-- has the afterlife they've been taught to worship since kithood been lying to them? Are they really what they say they are?

Prequel to Grasping the Stars
Pepper is born a kittypet, a fate she despised. She joins ShadowClan and does her best to prove her loyalty. ShadowClan gets into a territory battle with enemies? Why not remove the enemies entirely? She watches with triumph as the other clans fall one by one. However, her clanmates aren't so pleased with her destruction, and exiles her. She was doing them a favor, wasn't she? Why weren't they grateful? Taking on a new identity, she decides the clans must pay for what they did to her.
